Get the licence sent to yourselves and check over the details to make sure all the information is correct.

Choose Your Celebrant + Location
You’ll need to include the name of your celebrant and where the ceremony will take place when you apply for your licence (you can list a couple of locations if you’re not 100% certain yet).

Pay The Fee
The marriage licence costs $150 (as of 2024), and you can pay online at the time of application.
Remember to tick yes to the marriage certificate (an additional $33) which will be sent to your NZ address within 2-3 weeks.

Wait For Processing
It takes three working days to process. Once it’s ready, your licence is valid for three months.

You're Ready To Go!
You will receive your licence digitally (or you’ll be instructed to collect it from your local office, depending on your situation) and then you can forward it to me once you have checked over it.
For International Couples
It’s best to apply for your license 3–6 weeks before your wedding, just to keep things stress-free and avoid any last-minute rush!
